Posted in Denville National Day of Prayer with tags on May 4, 2015 by denvilletv

Throughout the nation it has become customary to celebrate National Day of Prayer the first Thursday in May. In Denville, this year, National Day of Prayer will take place May 7, 2015 at 12:00 noon (as the rest of the nation) in Denville Township Municipal Building. It is an interfaith observance.
Denville National Day of Prayer is sponsored by Denville P.R.I.D.E Council. The theme for the event, this year, is “Lord, Hear Our Cry”. The service is 15 minutes long, followed by the serving of light refreshments.
As relayed by Denville P.R.I.D.E council the history of the United States National Day of Prayer is as follows. Even before the formation of an independent United States the Continental Congress, in 1775, issued a proclamation setting a day of prayer aside. In 1952 a joint resolution of the United States established the day of prayer as an annual event, signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. In 1988 President Ronald Reagan amended the law by designating that the first Thursday in May, each year, as the National Day of Prayer.

Sunday, June 3, 2012 the Denville Rotary Street Fair proceeded through Sunshine dashed with moments of rain. The Mayor’s Council for People with Challenges had a booth at the event. Susan Reinhardt, Chairperson of the Denville Mayor’s Council for People with Challenges (MCPC), in the above interview, at the Rotary Street Festival, expressed the motives of this recently formed Denville Council. Susan expressed the concern to integrate people with challenges into the Denville Community by participating in events, as Rid Litter Day, to assure they would be recognized by the Denville Community personnel as well as being on the giving side rather than receiving side.

Once again you could visit your favorite vendors there: Nature’s EnerQi (renown for their bubble tea and more), Union Hill Farm (probably selling vegetable plants to start your vegetable garden), Sweet Niche Biscotti (remember the bacon caramel brownies as well as biscotti’s of every unimaginable flavor), Anthony and Son’s Bakery (those breads and more) Gooserock Farm (Honeys and honey products), Sugar Mommy Cupcakes, Pickle Licious and many many more vendors. Do hope the mushroom guy, Alex Adams will be there. Happy Father’s Day, this Sunday, June 17, 2012.
