Denville Township Reorganization Ceremony 2012

In the Denville Township Municipal Building, on New Years Day, Sunday, January 1, 2012, at 12:00 noon the Inauguaration of incoming Denville Township Mayor Tom Andes and council members Kevin Scollans, Stephanie Lyden and Debra Smith took place, as well as the swearing in of all township volunteers. On Sunday November 27, 2011 Denville held it’s annual Holiday Parade, as varied and thrilling as ever. There was the usual joy and thrill of the crowd as well as the memories of the impact of the floods from Hurricane Irene on Denville Downtown and Denville Residents (August 28, 2011). The Mayor and Mayor elect gave acknowledgement of Denville Downtown’s amazing recovering and returning to business, as well as gratitude to all those, within and outside of Denville, who has been giving continuous support to Denville’s Recovery.
DENVILLE IS BACK. So Come to Denville, this season, for your holiday shopping. Once again you will find the most unique presents in Denville, from the Peruvian Store, Bridges to the Irish store, Faith and Bagora. There is Broadway Florist and so many other stores that you have treasured or you should look into in Downtown Denville.

Denville Band+ Aid on Broadway

On October 16 2011 a special organized event took place in Denville, “Denville Up and Running/ Band+ Aid on Broadway”, to help raise money for the Denville Merchants and Denville Residences impacted by the floods of Hurricane Irene (August 28, 2011). The event, starting with a Denville up and running 5k race and continuing with Band+ Aid on Broadway (where many local very talented Bands performed) was graced with beautiful weather, fantastic music and the enthusiastic spirit of those attending and dancing (volunteers, residences and merchants). The event was a sure success in terms of raising money thru Denville PAL Hurricane Relief Fund and rallying of a continued united spirit for Denville.
Thanks to the organizers (among them Dan Lefsky, Bobby Egner, Steven Vittorio, Patrick Kaiser, Jesse Decker and Matthew Loreto);
Thanks to all the volunteers( two of them; Kayla and Camille, in the video above); Thanks to the talented local musical bands that gave the great music at the event (including “Edge of 17″, in the video above, http://edgeof17tribute.com/);
Thanks to Roxie Rose (Roxierosedesign.com) who did the designs for the banners and the keepsake Lanyard (with ticket of all the musical bands on it.) for Denville Band+ Aid on Broadway;

Hurricane Relief for Denville

It has been slightly over a month since the floods of Hurricane Irene impacted Denville. Until this day a lot of Denville Residence and Merchants are still in need of assistance to recover. There has been a lot of efforts in developing Benefit Events and Drives to collect needed funds and necessities for those impacted by the Flood of August 28, 2011. Aftermath Hurricane Irene Downtown Denville

The day following Hurricane Irene, August 29th 2011 I ventured into Downtown Denville. The waters had receded a lot already. It was already over 24 hours since the flood waters from the Rockaway River and Den Brook had peaked in Downtown. I was told by others the water was over four feet on Broadway and Route 53 by Getty. I saw photos of one person standing neck deep in the water by the Route 53 overpass. This was record flooding in Denville. Hurricane Irene Impacts Denville 82811

I walked to the Entrance of Downtown Denville, where I understand all the stores on Broadway and around are submerged in flood waters. My concerns and hopes are with all store owners and residences in Denville NJ, that have suffered damage from this storm and that they can find recovery as soon as possible.

New Denville TV Cablevision Program

Starting Wednesday, August 10, 2011, you can see a newly edited Denville TV Cablevision show on Channel 21 (Public Access) at 7:00 PM. showing the Denville Duck Race and excerpts from the July 4th 2011 concert by the West Morris County Community Concert Band. This episode of Denville TV shall air for about, at least, 3 weeks.

36th Denville Sri Lanka Day Sat. August 6, 2011

Chinese Dancing and Music, for the first time, in the 36 year history of the Denville Sri Lanka Day, will be performed at the event. The Sri Lanka Day organizers invited the Chinese Music Group to be part of the celebration. This Chinese group will, as well, have a special booth, at the event, to promote chinese culture.
The Chinese Music Group will perform, at the 36th Denville Sri Lanka Day, at 4:30 PM, at the Gardner Field Band Stand. Their program will comprise of the following; 1. Pi Pa (two songs) 2. Gu Zheng (Chinese Harp) 3. Digital Piano (2 Songs) 4. Dances (The dances will include the famous Chinese Lion Dance) followed with 5. American Music.
Music will be present throughout the Denville 36th Sri Lanka Day, which takes place at Gardner Field, Denville, New Jersey (off of Route 46 on Savage Road.)
Festivities will begin at 12:00 noon. Food booths as of the Sri Lanka Mission Seva Vanitha, will open promptly.Rugby, Cricket, Netball, Volleyball, Tug of War as well as more activities have be planned, by the organizers, for both adults and children. “Sri Lanka has Talent” will take place in the main pavilion.
The All American Cricket Team from Denville will compete, in a Cricket Match, with the Sri Lankasn Stars for the 18th year.
The Sri Lanka Medical Association will hold their Annual Free Consultation Clinic for the 3rd year.
Official and the Presidents of both Denville Rotary Clubs will be present.
Most of Sri Lanka leading schools will also have their pavilions on the premises of this Sri Lankan event.
Township Administrator Steve Ward will read the Mayor’s Proclamation declaring the 36th Sri Lanka Day in Denville. Present will be Honored guests; Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen, Senator & Councilman Bucco, Sri Lankan Association President Dr. Ranpali Fernando and the two Ambassadors of Sri Lanka to the US & UN. There sill be the hoisting of both the Sri Lankan flag and American flag with singing of their respective National Anthems. The hoisting of the flags will be performed by their respective above honorable guests, mentioned above.
The event also marks the 40th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Association of New York. All past Presidents of the Association will be present at this event.
